Electrical Testing and Inspection
Periodic testing of your wiring and supplies is extremely important as a faulty electrical supply can pose a significant fire and electrocution hazard. If you are unsure of the frequency at which tests should be carried out, we recommend that your system is tested at least once a year to ensure the electrics are running safely and cost-effectively.
Our NICEIC approved electricians can offer fixed wire and portable appliance testing (PAT) throughout your commercial property.
For commercial properties it is recommended that fixed wire testing is undertaken at least every five years but higher risk environments will require more frequent testing. This can either consist of a comprehensive one-off inspection or a rolling programme of smaller annual checks testing your electrical wiring and supplies for faults. You can rely on a high-quality inspection from our NICEIC approved electricians inclusive of a certificate on completion and an accompanying quotation and schedule for any remedial works to be carried out to ensure your electrics are brought up-to-date.
Fixed Wire Testing
Involves the inspection and testing of all electrical installations within a building to ensure they are safe and compliant with rules and regulations. This includes the checking of main panels, distribution boards, lights, and plug sockets but does not include equipment which is plugged in.
After a fixed wire test has been completed, an Electrical Inspection Condition Report (EICR) is issued which will include the extent of the works, limitations, details of defects, dangerous conditions, and schedules of results.
A satisfactory EICR report ensures that you are compliant with current rules and regulations but an unsatisfactory report must be actioned by having the remedial works as described in the report undertaken by an NICEIC accredited electrician.
PAT Testing
Involves the routine inspection of electrical appliances to ensure they are safe to use and includes both a visual and more in-depth check using specialist PAT testing equipment.
At the end of the test, every appliance will be marked as pass or fail.
The categories of appliance which should be considered for PAT testing are Fixed Appliances, Stationary Appliances, IT Appliances, Moveable Appliances, Portable Appliances, Cables and Chargers, and Hand Held Appliances.
PAT testing itself is not a legal requirement but businesses have a legal responsibility to ensure their electrical equipment is maintained in a safe condition.
