How to Replace a Heating Pump

Central heating pumps fail for a variety of reasons with the most common being component corrosion and the non-flushing of the system on a regular basis.

To replace a pump:

  1. Shut off the electrical connections.
  2. Locate the pump to be replaced.
  3. Ensure familiarity with the electrical wiring schematic.
  4. Shut off the isolating service valves or, if required, drain the system.
  5. Waterproof the area.
  6. Loosen the connections and remove the failed pump.
  7. Replace the pump and tighten connections.
  8. Turn-on the isolating service valves and check for leaks.
  9. Ensure the area is fully dry before powering up.
  10. Bleed the system.
